1890s Antique Pine Game Board
1890s Antique Pine Game Board
Was $195 shipped, now $110 shipped.
An interesting gameboard. Painted just in the four corners which gives it a neat abstract feel. Nice old surface. Looks like Halma or a version of it (Halma was the inspiration for Chinese Checkers and was invented in 1883). Paint is original (you can see how new / protected from wear the board looks where the paint has flaked off). Has a split through the paint but not painted in the split. Solid board though. Looks nice on the wall. Has a collectors tag on the back, looks like they bought it in 1988. Single board with applied edge moldings. Late 1800s or early 1900s.
Probably from New England or New York.
A little over 20 by a little over 17 inches.
Provenance: From the Ed and Kay Winnick collection, Sidney, NY.
Condition: Nice overall condition. Collection and wall worthy. Some paint has flaked off. All original paint. No touch ups. No repairs. Some light general wear. Great surface. Age split to the center of the board. Doesn't go all the way through and the board is still very stable. Some wear to the molding
